Become a permanent part of

Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program

and the Cutter Mansion

A history book records the important people and events of a particular society over an extended period of time. At Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program, our history will be recorded in a slightly different manner. Instead of history books, we are writing history bricks, and we’d like you to be one of the authors.

By buying a brick, you will help to  provide support to nearly 500 low income children.  Your message will become a permanent part of this historical “journal” of transforming lives into a  future of hope . . .

Record an important person, date or event, a club, team or business, a quote or saying that is special to you. So, get your pen, fill out the order form and send it along with your check made out to Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program.

The Cutter Mansion, also known as the Hurlbut Mansion was designed in 1906 by famous Spokane architect Kirtland Cutter. It is a huge brick colonial house with Corinthian columns, wrap around balcony, hardwood floors and many rooms.

From 1912 to 1966 the house belonged to the Home Finding and Aid Society of North Idaho, Inc. serving the needs of many abandoned children. From 1966 on it has been leased to LCECP to operate the local Head Start program. In 2002, the Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program was able to purchase the property with the intention of rehabilitating the buildings and continuing the legacy of serving children and families .
